Background

Whatever your interests, Hop House’s superb accommodation can offer you a stylish and fulfilling stay whatever the time of year.

Hop House is part of an Oast House which has been lovingly renovated and transformed by the owners into the fabulous guest accommodation it is today. Once widespread throughout Kent, these lovely Oast Houses originally built for the drying of hops to be sent to local breweries, are now less common, making them novel accommodation for groups of friends, large families and any party wishing to celebrate an anniversary, birthday or event. Hop House attracts many walking groups with a passion for accessing the countryside using the numerous local footpaths through meadows and woods.

It is situated in a small hamlet of Oad Street in the heart of rural Kent.

The areas within Hop House have been decorated and furbished in an individual style. The 4 bedrooms within the roundels/kilns give a sleeping space surrounded by the feature curved walls.

All bedrooms boast en-suite facilities to avoid any guest having “bathroom envy”. Some rooms have baths rather than showers if you enjoy a long, hot soak after a day exploring. Pour in the bath oil, lay back and relax!
The 2 ground floor bedrooms have full sized wet rooms. We wanted to meet everyone’s taste.

The first floor accessed via a splendid staircase, leads to 2 of the rooms inside the kilns/roundels. For the larger groups, there is a spacious open plan living area complete with a well-equipped kitchen and dining area seating up to 14 guests, perfect for enjoying long, lingering dinners with great company and delicious food and drink.

On the ground floor there is a large sitting room with a dinning area and separate kitchen from which guests can enter the fully enclosed garden. Enjoy the sunrises and sunsets, the moon and the stars.

Nearby national attractions include the Kent County Showground and Leeds Castle “the most beautiful castle in the world”, a mere few minutes drive away. Various events and exhibitions are held at the showground throughout the year including the annual Kent County Show which is held over 3 days in July showcasing all forms of farming, food and country lifestyles.
